Operation Smile Event

Close to My Heart supports a charity organization called Operation Smile.

There are many ways we can help:

** A portion of every stamp set sold is donated thru CTMH
** Our featured stamp sets directly contribute $7 for every stamp set sold
(This year, it's Animal Greetings - so cute!)
** Round up an order - those dimes, nickels and pennies add up!
** Attend a crop or fundraising event

The last bullet is the reason for this post - I am hosting my FIRST
Operation Smile fundraising event!

Saturday, December 19th from 11am-3pm

Please join me for some crafting fun!
I'll have lots of prizes, a silent auction, items for sale by donation and more.

Operation Smile has been around for 25 years.
They travel the world, performing surgeries on children and babies born with a cleft lip or cleft palate.
Last year, they provided 9,221 free surgeries around the world.

Each surgery costs $240

Families often travel for hundreds of miles just for the chance of having their child selected for surgery.

I joined CTMH in 2009 and I am working to fund my 6th Operation Smile operation.

Here are some photos from CTMH's trip last year with Operation Smile

That's Monica - she's in a lot of the CTMH videos.  She's a very senior member of CTMH.

This is a little girl who had the surgery the last time Operation Smile went to Mexico.
It makes such an amazing difference!

When children have a cleft palate, they are often shunned and ridiculed and have a very difficult life.
And sometimes, their palate is so bad, they can hardly eat because there is no wall between their mouth and nose.

You can read more about it at www.operationsmile.org

The photos for this blog were stolen from www.operationsmile.org and the CTMH blog.

Please contact me if you have any questions

Have a great day!
